Wandering St Andrews With Caitlin & Justin: A Relaxed and Meaningful Couple’s Session to celebrate their Engagement

Caitlin and Justin chose St Andrews as the backdrop for their engagement session, returning to the university town where their story began. Their two-hour shoot took us through some of the most iconic and meaningful spots in St Andrews—perfect locations for couples looking to capture their connection in a place full of history, charm, and stunning scenery.

Starting in St Salvator’s Quad

We began in St Salvator’s Quad, a favourite location for couples who studied in St Andrews. Its warm stone walls, cloisters, and soft light make it ideal for romantic portraits. Caitlin and Justin spent time here during their university days, so it was the perfect place to start their shoot with relaxed, natural photographs.

St Salvator’s Gardens for Soft, Romantic Light

Next, we walked to St Salvator’s Gardens, where the greenery and quieter corners allowed for more intimate, candid moments. Engagement sessions here often feel peaceful and timeless—ideal for couples wanting gentle, editorial-style images.

Coastal Moments at Castle Sands

From there, we made our way down to Castle Sands, one of the town’s most dramatic coastal spots. With the ruins of St Andrews Castle above us and the North Sea stretching out behind, Caitlin and Justin had a chance to wander, laugh, and enjoy the sea breeze. This part of the session added movement and energy – perfect for couples who love natural, outdoorsy images.

Finishing the Shoot at St Andrews Pier

We ended the session on St Andrews Pier, where the views back towards the town are unmatched. The long stretch of walkway, the harbour walls, and the sound of the waves create a beautiful setting for final portraits. As the light softened, Caitlin and Justin shared some quiet moments together, some of the highlights of the entire shoot.
