What wedding packages do you offer and what’s included in each?
I offer 3 packages – Ceremony (2 hours, £450), Half Day (6 hours, £1200), and Full Day (12 hours, ££1750), with optional extras like additional hours, second shooters, and drone photography, as well as video highlights. Drone photography is included in Half and Full Day bookings. Full details can be found in the comparison table above.
How far in advance should we book you for our wedding in Scotland? The sooner the better! If you have a Saturday date in June/July/August, you should be looking at booking at least a year in advance to have a chance of securing these dates as they are the most popular. In autumn and winter, I can usually accommodate bookings with around 6 months notice. But please get in touch for my availability via my contact form here.
Do you travel? Absolutely yes, I travel – depending on my calendar, I can travel across Scotland and the UK. I will also travel internationally upon requested – I’ve photographed professionally as far away as New Zealand! I travel up to 2 hours from home free of charge for all packages. Travel fees apply beyond this distance as, although I love my job, I can’t afford to do it and incur expenses for free!
What’s your booking process, and can we pay in instalments or on a payment plan? My booking process is as follows: after we discuss your plans, I’ll send over a contract for you and your partner to read and sign, and then a 20% deposit will secure your date. Unfortunately I am unable to hold dates without that deposit being paid. The remaining 80% of the required payment can then be paid in installments provided the full balance has been paid in full at least one calendar month before your wedding, i.e. if your wedding date is June 5th 2026, we must be fully paid up by May 5th 2026 at the latest.
What can we expect on our wedding day – what is your photography style and how do you work? A wedding is not a photoshoot – and for the most part that is an approach I absolutely stick by – but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun and be creative too! I balance this by really being unobtrusive presence on the day – visible when needed, and invisible when not – so that the day unfolds naturally, with minimal interference from me unless more guidance is requested. We’ll discuss this on the pre-wedding call, but I definitely encourage couples to set aside at least 30 minutes in the day to step away from the party briefly for some couples portraits – but beyond that, I’m focused on making sure all your memories are beautifully documented.
Will you guide us and our guests with posing, or are the photos all candid? I strongly believe people smile most truly when they don’t know they’re having their photographs taken – and when people say they don’t like their picture being taken, I love to prove them wrong! So in that regard, a lot of my work is candid – however I will be quite hands-on with arranging and posing you for your group shot list, and I ‘prompt’ (rather than ‘pose’) for your couples portraits in the day too. This approach has been built over dozens of weddings over the years, and in my opinion gives you the best balance in your gallery between gorgeous authentic moments you don’t even know I’m capturing, and shots that you can really lean into with purpose.
Do we get a second photographer or drone photography? A second photographer is an add-on for my Ceremony and Half Day packages (available for £350/day), but is included in the Full Day. Drone photography can be added to Ceremony packages for an additional £100, and is included in Half and Full Day bookings at no extra charge.
Do I need a second photographer at my wedding? If you have a large wedding party of 80+ guests, I do highly recommend adding a second shooter to your package (though note that I always include a second shooter in my Full Day package regardless). However, even if you don’t have a long guest list, if it’s important to you that all of your guests are photographed, keep in mind that second shooters have the flexibility to move around a lot more than the main photographer who will be focusing on the main events of the timeline, and the wedding party and family – and so it might be right for you. If in doubt, reach out to me and we can discuss it! I go into this in more detail in this blog.
How many photos will we receive in our final wedding gallery and in what format? I provide all of my wedding photos via a link to an online gallery, where you can download them an unlimited number of times for 12 months. If you have booked a Half or Full Day, you will have the option to download either social media resolution or high resolution files. Ceremony packages receive the social media resolution downloads, with the high resolution copies available to add for £100. The difference between social media and high resolution files is basically their printability – social media resolution is perfect for viewing on phones and laptops, but it’s best to use high resolution for printing, especially for larger prints.
When will we receive our photos? My standard turnaround time is 6 weeks maximum, but you can expect to receive your photos within 4 weeks generally. Remember that I am hand editing upwards of 1000 photos per wedding – usually selected from several thousand that were captured – so this process does take time! I am a big believer in couples taking some time to reminisce over the memories they have organically – then receiving their photos a few weeks later to relive it in full clarity. I genuinely think it makes the remembering all the sweeter – when I look at photos the day after an event, it just doesn’t spark the same fondness.
Content creators could get the content back to me the next day – why can’t you? Content creators definitely have their place, and if you can’t wait, then I’d recommend having one, yes! They can deliver the photos much faster as they are usually putting them through an auto edit within their phone and simply zipping and sending them over without individually colour correcting, cropping, and selecting for the best shots. Photos that have been auto-edited by the photo app and reels made on Instagram from phone footage are just much quicker to put together! Photographers like myself are providing a curated, top quality, artistically driven and professionally lit gallery – so while a content creator might be able to get a great photograph in a perfect lighting situation, you’ll want to wait for the professional photographer to see yourself and your venue looking your best. Bringing all of the raw elements together in professional editing software and editing each photograph by hand simply takes much more time.
Do we get sneak peeks? This is an option, yes! Full Day packages always include sneak peeks within 72 hours, but you are able to add sneak peeks to any package – within 24 hours for £150, or 48 hours for £100.
Do you photograph same-sex/LGBTQ+/non-traditional weddings?
I absolutely do, and I go into this in more detail in my inclusivity statement. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community who frequently photographs weddings with my long-term partner as my second shooter (she is also a fantastic wedding coordinator as her day-job), I can’t emphasise my ‘yes’ to this question enough. All love is welcome and respected here, and my couples never need to feel any form of judgement or ‘other’-ness when I photograph their weddings. My weddings page here deliberately uses non-specific inclusive language – you might see reference to the traditional bride and groom descriptors in blog posts, but anytime these appear, this is purely for SEO purposes.
What if our wedding plans change (date/venue/guest numbers)? Not usually a problem, provided I can accommodate the new date! Venue changing doesn’t matter drastically, but travel charges may apply to your new venue. Guest numbers changing is also not a problem – unless they’re doubling to more than 100 or something, in which case I’d just recommend you add a second shooter so we can cover more ground and get you more photographs of everyone!
