Why book me?

  • I’m a fully insured, registered business, and I frequently work for the University itself at their philanthropic events.
  • You book me personally, not an agency or group – every photo you see here on my website was taken by me, with gear I own – meaning if you see a photo you love, we can recreate it.
  • I know St Andrews like the back of my hand, and I can consistently and efficiently produce the photos you’re looking for.
  • While I can absolutely help guide you through the classic images, I’m totally open to your ideas for photographs and bringing your own visions to life. Bring your Pinterest boards!
  • You get every good photograph I take – there’s no cut-off number for any of my packages. Variation in numbers just comes from how many people are joining the session, and how many places we go!
  • I book sessions with deliberate time left in between your session and my next session. If your family takes a little bit longer to walk to a second location, your ceremony runs late, or if you bump into a friend and we want to extend by five minutes to take photos with them, I’ve already allowed time for it.

Graduation Photography FAQs

Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions about graduation photography, including booking, locations, group photos and what to expect on the day. If you need anything else, you’re always welcome to get in touch.

Yes, I specialise in graduation photography in St Andrews, offering relaxed, professional portraits around the University of St Andrews and nearby locations. Sessions can be booked for individuals, friends, couples or families.

Graduation sessions in St Andrews are busiest during peak graduation weeks, so I recommend booking as early as possible to secure your preferred date and time. Limited availability is offered each season.

Graduation photoshoots usually take place around the classic St Andrews locations like the Cloisters, St Salvator’s Quad, and the cobbled streets and coastal spots that make the town so special. Let me know your ideas and I can suggest locations!

Session length depends on the package you choose. Mini sessions are perfect for quick portraits, while longer sessions allow for multiple locations, group photos and a relaxed pace.

Absolutely. Graduation photography sessions in St Andrews can include family members, partners and friends, (as well as any staff members that we bump into!), making it easy to capture a mix of formal portraits and natural moments together.

Alongside your graduation gown, I recommend wearing neutral or timeless clothing that photographs well. I especially encourage people to wear their country’s traditional dress where they can – kilts, saris and hanfus are always great to see and photograph! I’m happy to offer guidance on outfits, footwear and layering to suit St Andrews locations and weather.

Yes, I offer group graduation photography for friends graduating together. These sessions are ideal for capturing shared memories and can be arranged alongside individual portraits. I can always accommodate a handful of friends on the day, but it helps to have advance notice if we might be waiting around for different friends/family to join, so let me know!

Your graduation photographs will be delivered via a private online gallery, where you can view, download and share your images easily. High-resolution files are included with every session.

St Andrews weather can be unpredictable, but I’ve seen it all before, and we can easily adapt. We can use sheltered locations, or I have a set of 5 umbrellas that we can bring out if we want to stick to Plan A – but it’s always up to you!

To book your graduation photography session in St Andrews, simply get in touch via the contact form on this page. I’ll confirm availability and guide you through the next steps.

Been there, done that – the length of your graduation ceremony in St Andrews may vary wildly. I suggest leaving a full 2 hours for the ceremony to take place, as I find the official university guidance is slightly optimistic suggesting 90 minutes. There are a lot of names to read out, and the honorary graduate in your ceremony might have a lot to say! Personally as an experienced St Andrews graduation photographer, I have already accounted for this, and unless your ceremony runs for more than 2.5 hours (which I’ve never seen happen), you don’t have anything to worry about, your session with me won’t be affected.

Yes, depending on the length of your session, we can visit more than one location during your graduation photoshoot in St Andrews. Longer sessions allow time to move between nearby spots, such as university buildings and outdoor locations, while keeping the experience relaxed and unhurried.

Yes, you’re absolutely welcome to bring props or personal items to your graduation photoshoot. This might be things like flowers, champagne, books, instruments, or anything meaningful to your time at university. Personal touches will make your graduation photos feel more unique, and I’m always happy to incorporate them naturally into your session.

Within reason yes, but the more notice you can give me, the better! I am very flexible to location changes around town, but I do need more notice if you want to move to the Pier, Swilcan Bridge or any further afield. The best thing to do is get in touch with me as soon as you decide you’d like to change, and I will accommodate your wishes as best as I can!
