What can we expect on our wedding day – what is your photography style and how do you work?
Scotland has a way of making weddings feel really effortlessly cinematic – dramatic skies, vast landscapes, ancient architecture. My job is to document all of it without getting in the way of your experience of it. I stay unobtrusive throughout the day, stepping in when needed and disappearing when not, so the day feels like yours rather than a photoshoot. I always encourage couples to carve out at least 30 minutes for portraits – in Scotland especially, that golden hour in a Highland glen or on a coastal headland is worth protecting in your timeline.

Will you guide us and our guests with posing, or are the photos all candid?
Most of my work is candid – I find the best moments happen when people forget I’m there. That said, I’m hands-on when it comes to group shots and I prompt rather than pose for couples portraits, which tends to produce something much more natural than a rigid pose would. In Scotland particularly, the landscape becomes part of the composition – so while I’m never forcing anything, I will absolutely position you to make the most of what’s around you.

What’s it like shooting weddings in the Scottish landscape – do you work well in unpredictable weather?
Scottish weather is part of the story, not an obstacle. Some of my favourite images have come from dramatic skies, soft haar, golden autumn light, or the kind of horizontal rain that somehow makes everyone laugh and pull closer together. I’ve been photographing outdoors in Scotland for over a decade and I know how to work with the light – and the lack of it. I’ll never let the weather be a reason for a weaker gallery.

Do we get a second photographer or drone photography?
A second photographer is an add-on for Ceremony and Half Day packages (£350/day) and is included in the Full Day. For larger Scottish venues – country estates, Highland castles, sprawling outdoor settings – a second shooter is particularly worthwhile, simply because the scale of the space means there’s more ground to cover and more moments happening simultaneously. Drone photography is included in Half and Full Day packages and can be added to Ceremony bookings for £100 – Scotland’s landscapes lend themselves to drone work better than almost anywhere.

Do I need a second photographer at my wedding?
For Scottish weddings with 80+ guests, or those taking place across large estate grounds or multiple locations in the same day, I’d strongly recommend it. A second shooter can cover the grounds, the guests, and the candid moments between locations while I’m focused on the main events – which at a sprawling Scottish venue can be quite far apart. That said, for more intimate celebrations it’s absolutely not essential. Get in touch and we can talk through what your day looks like.
